Being told to 'stay busy'

Does anyone else remember that when you entered Highschool, you were told the keep busy? Maybe this is the minority, at least that's all I can hope. These teachers, family members, coaches and principles go under the assumption that those who partake in the 'traditional' education process which involves: grades, football games, work and friends - all will cause you to do better in life.

Has anyone stopped in thought, why do they want us to keep busy? For those of you who kept busy, I can guess that you haven't. When one is always doing something, they don't have time to sit and think about the world, it's problems and possible remedies. Is this the reason we should 'keep busy'? In the books Brave New World and 1984, they both mention that lacking free time will allow people to not think about the big picture. I find this to be truth because not until I quit sports and stopped trying to be 'cool' my freshmen year, I've never thought about Communism or even Capitalism for that matter. My views didn't mature until the end of my Junior year, so a little free time doesn't seem like enough to accomplish what it is they do not want you to.

Weed isn't a harmful drug and doesn't make you violent - I've never heard of someone ODing on weed or beating a wife while high. Weed makes you think about things, possibly things that would never cross your mind while you aren't high. Why would the government work so hard and make punishments so drastic on a drug that isn't even as harmful as alcohol? They do not want us to think, they would rather we were in a mindless stupor.

Ever wonder why Europe has more Socialist policies than the US? Europeans on average work a lot less than Americans. Some countries even have a dedicated month in which everyone is off work. Thought is allowed during these times because people are not occupied with their work. Have they thought about the consequences of the evil Capitalist (Imperialist) system and gone about small changes to make it just a little bit better?

Take some time out of your day to just think about important events and how the world functions, then how it should function. Instead of getting into a meaningless conversation about who's dating who - just think.

Do you seriously that free time leads to socialism? Please tell me you don't.

The reason other countries work less is because of their socialism, not the other way around. There is no "they" and no, marijuana isn't going to make you any smarter.

Just because you get #@!@ed up and start tripping out and thinking weird things doesn't mean that you are getting any closer to truth.

If you want to do some good in the world, go out and volunteer at a hospital or do some good deeds for old people. Sitting online complaining that football is a tool of "the man" to make you be capitalistic isn't doing a damn bit.

Hah.

I don't think 'free time' leads to Socialism. I think thought leads to Socialism, if anyone actually took the time to think about both Socialism and Capitalism - only the people who have no compassion for humanity will choose Capitalism.

Never said Marijuana makes you smarter. Obviously you aren't smart enough to know how to read. Marijuana makes you think about things you usually do not. The 'mindless stupor' was referring to being drunk.

I wasn't high when I thought of or wrote this post

When you say go and volunteer, do you mean cleaning up after the mess left by the Capitalists? These problems you want me to go fix will be continually made until Capitalism is abolished.

Come on, drugs aren't cool. You don't need marijuana to think clearly. I don't eveen support taking perscription medicine. Everything is possible with enough will power, you don't need drugs to achieve something. Thinking is a good way to learn, marijuana is just a cheat for people who don't want to think for themselves.

I'm not going to argue, drugs (and alcohol) aren't ever good for you.
